What We Do

God created humans to be in community. We were never meant to do life alone. Therefore, we want to be a church that seeks to foster deep and meaningful relationships. When we gather for worship, for connection groups, and for service in the community, we will always seek to connect with one another and care for one another.

Our God is immensely generous with His love, grace, and forgiveness. The primary way that God has chosen to share His forgiveness in the world is through the local church--specifically when the local church is gathered together in worship. It is here that God gives us His gifts of forgiveness and mercy, and where we can encourage one another in the life Jesus has called us to. Therefore, we place a priority on the gathering of God's people in worship.

However, worship is not limited to one hour on a Sunday morning. Rather, it is a lifestyle that is cultivated and experienced on the other six days of the week in the places and people that God sends us to. As the people of God, we are sent with the Spirit and presence of God into our homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods and to see those as places where we can worship God too.

Jesus once said that He did not come to this earth to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). Following in His example and empowered by His love for us, we seek to serve the Downriver community in whatever way we can. By using the gifts, passions, and connections that God has given to us, we strive to make our community the best it can be for all people.
